NEW ORLEANS – Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, announced that Robert W. Rachal has joined the firm’s New Orleans office. Rachal joins the firm from Holifield Janich Rachal Ferrera, PLLC, where he focused his practice on complex ERISA litigation and advising fiduciaries. Details were shared in a press release.

“Jackson Lewis’ Employee Benefits Practice Group is undergoing significant growth, and we are so excited that Robert is an important part of that growth,” said Joy M. Napier-Joyce, leader of the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice Group. “Robert has deep expertise in the areas of ERISA and complex labor and employment litigation, and his experience will be indispensable to our clients and colleagues.”

Rachal has focused his practice on complex ERISA fiduciary, benefits and executive compensation litigation, including defending DOL investigations, and advising ERISA fiduciaries, for the past 25 years. Mr. Rachal counsels companies, plan providers and plan fiduciaries in all types of complex ERISA litigation, DOL investigations, and fiduciary issues.

This includes claims related to ESOPs, 401(k) fees, pension plans and executive compensation. Rachal frequently represents Fortune 500 companies, as well as small and mid-size employers from various industries. He also advises organizations on issues that arise in complex ERISA litigation and benefits claim processing, and is a frequent lecturer and writer on a wide variety of benefits matters.

“I’m delighted that we could add Robert to our team,” said Charles F. Seemann, office managing principal in New Orleans. “His experience in class action and complex ERISA litigation is, quite literally, unmatched. We’ve worked together for nearly 20 years, so I know Robert enjoys a solid-gold reputation nationally as a brilliant ERISA litigator that is both hard-nosed and pragmatic.  He is a great catch, both for the New Orleans office and for our ERISA litigation capacity nationally.”

Rachal earned his B.S. from University of New Orleans and his J.D. from Tulane Law School where he graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian. He clerked for Judge Jacques Wiener of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
