Delgado Hosts Hispanic Welding/ ESL Training Program

METAIRIE, LA – Delgado Community College is offering Spanish-speaking individuals the opportunity to learn Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) skills while they improve and enhance their English speaking and reading skills and earn NCCER Core Curriculum and Welding Level 1 nationally recognized credentials.

         An information session will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Delgado Jefferson Site, Room A-46, 5200 Blair Dr., in Metairie, LA, at 6:00 p.m.

         The deadline to enroll in the program is Thursday, July 7, 2016.

         The program takes place from Monday, July 11, through Friday, December 16, 2016, Mondays through Thursdays,  from 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

         The program costs $150.

Requirements

Must possess the following Personal Protective Equipment and tools to participate in this training program:

• Pencil/ Pen, Notepad/ Notebook

• Safety Glasses

• Steel Toed Shoes (Leather Tongue)

• Welding Gloves

• Welding Cap

• Chipping Hammer

• Welding Shield (Flip Top)

• Welding Sleeve or Jacket

• Wire Brush

• Long Pants (no Polyester or Double

Knits)

• Long Sleeve Shirt (No Polyester or

Double Knits)
