Crane Operators Receive Certification
NEW ORLEANS – During the Coastal Conversations seminar held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, on the campus of Nunez Community College, the first group of crane operators received their certifications from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO).
A crane operator assists with almost all heavy construction projects around the world. They can be seen in the background of every major project – from skyscrapers to refinery and maritime work. An NCCCO crane operator certification is accepted all over the United States, as well as many foreign territories.
Wages range from $28 to $32 an hour. Most jobs offer opportunities to work overtime.
Those completing the training were Kendrick Gilmore Violet) , Tate Mannino (Saint Bernard), Grant Molero(St. Bernard), Neal Ruffino (Meraux) and Caleb Anglin (Meraux).
Jessie Whittington, Personnel Development Manager with Weeks Marine, provided the keynote with a message focusing on related careers available in coastal restoration.
Coastal Conversations is a quarterly workforce development series designed by Nunez to bring attention to and discussion around coastal restoration efforts.
