City 504HealthNet To Host Event To Design Solutions For A Healthier Community

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans and 504HealthNet invite the public to participate in the Stand Up and Get Care initiative’s Design Day on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the University Medical Center New Orleans Conference Center, 2000 Canal St.

Organizers say it will be opportunity for community members, City officials and healthcare workers to come together to design solutions to some of the most pressing problems in healthcare.

The winning solution will have a chance to be implemented by the City of New Orleans and partner organizations.

New Orleans has high rates of chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease, which need consistent monitoring by a primary care doctor. The Stand up and Get Care initiative seeks to work with the community to design innovative solutions to engage people in taking charge of their health, including regularly going to a primary care doctor.

504HealthNet is a non-profit organization comprised of 22 community health service providers representing the primary care safety net for Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parishes. Together, this network of community health centers is working collaboratively to better meet the primary care and behavioral health needs of low-income, uninsured, and underinsured residents in the Greater New Orleans area.
