“Brandy…is proud to be a member of the Chamber because of that complimentary pairing of ideals”
A partnership between the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and the Port of New Orleans is tailor-made. The Chamber helps businesses connect to and with Port NOLA, a modern multimodal gateway for global commerce that is fundamentally dedicated to building prosperity through Jefferson, Orleans and St. Bernard parishes.
Brandy D. Christian, President and CEO of the Port of New Orleans and CEO of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Corporation, is proud to be a member of the Chamber because of that complimentary pairing of ideals. Port NOLA provides seamless connectivity and a unified vision for pushing the region’s economy forward. The Port serves as a vital link between business and commerce, and the Chamber grows that relationship for its members.
Port NOLA’s Strategic Master Plan, published in Spring 2018, outlines a bold vision that paves the path forward for Port NOLA. Generating thousands of jobs, handling more than 600,000 cargo containers and serving millions of cruise passengers, Port NOLA impacts all levels of the economy, whether cargo, rail, industrial real estate or cruises. Port NOLA has seen double-digit growth in total container volumes, and the second direct-Asia container service, MSC’s Lone Star Express, allows increased access to a wide variety of opportunities.
Port NOLA is moving forward with a $100 million expansion plan for the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal on the cargo side. On the cruise business side, they anticipate increased sailings including a second season from Port NOLA for Disney Cruise Line’s Wonder in 2021 and a first-ever year-round Royal Caribbean ship, Majesty of the Seas, launching in 2020. Port NOLA and the Chamber are working together to help build a bigger, brighter future for New Orleans.
