Blue Cross and Blue Shield Announces New Vice President of Strategy and Innovation

BATON ROUGE, La. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has promoted Leah Shackleton to vice president of Strategy and Innovation, effective June 17, 2019. Details were shared in a press release.

As vice president of Strategy and Innovation, Shackleton will be responsible for developing Blue Cross’ corporate strategic plan, including planning, designing and implementing Blue Cross’ corporate strategy. She will identify organizational strengths and weaknesses, as well as business opportunities.

“The vice president of Strategy and Innovation is responsible for developing Blue Cross’ strategic plans and pursuing innovation within our healthcare market to ensure our members have access to the most affordable healthcare in Louisiana and beyond,” said Darrell Langlois, senior vice president of Strategy and Business Development. “Leah has the capability to build and execute an innovation program at Blue Cross that provides leading-edge understanding of market developments and determines areas in which the company should invest to compete effectively today and into the future.”

Shackleton joined Blue Cross in 2017 as Strategy and Corporate Planning Director, working to develop Blue Cross’ three-year strategic plan and leading the company’s enterprise strategy office. She came to Blue Cross from PwC Strategy& in New York City, where she developed growth strategies and evaluated entry into new markets for clients in and out of the healthcare industry, including insurers, providers and pharmaceutical companies. She has an MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated with honors from Middlebury College with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and neuroscience.
