Blood Donation To The Blood Center Ensures Express Admission To The Mortuary Haunted House

NEW ORLEANS – The Blood Center is collecting blood donations at The Mortuary Haunted House through Monday, October 31, 2016. All blood donors will receive a free express admission pass that covers the donor’s entry to the haunted house and allows up to three guests to cut the line with them.
Located at 4800 Canal St., The Mortuary Haunted House is Louisiana’s only real haunted house that has been verified as being actually haunted. Taking six weeks to set up and a team of over 100 actors and set designers, The Mortuary occupies an 19th Century mansion that operated as a funeral home from the 1920s to 2004 and has been featured on The History Channel, Fuse and the Discovery Channel.
“This has been a really great partnership for The Blood Center and the community blood supply,” Paul Adams of The Blood Center said. “We serve over 40 area hospitals and this event helps The Blood Center have a stable supply in the event of an emergency.”
Donors must be in good health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be at least 17 years of age to donate blood. Sixteen year olds can donate but they must weigh at least 130 pounds and have a signed TBC parental consent form. Donors are encouraged to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of fluids before and after donating. Please remember to bring a picture I.D.
In order to maintain a healthy and stable community blood supply, The Blood Center must collect between 300 to 350 pints of blood every day. Donating blood is safe, simple and easy. One pint of donated blood can help to save up to three lives.
The Blood Center is a non-profit community service organization serving over 40 hospitals and outpatient facilities throughout Southern Louisiana and Mississippi.
