Baton Rouge Area Home Sales Rise Again In November

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Home sales in metro Baton Rouge increased by 4.4 percent in November, thanks to increased sales in Ascension and East Baton Rouge parishes.

There were 615 home sales that closed in November in the eight-parish area. That's according to figures released Thursday by the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors. That compares with 589 closed sales in November 2013.

Once again, the biggest monthly gainer was Ascension Parish, where sales were up nearly 29 percent to 139 from 108. East Baton Rouge, the largest market for sales, also had an increase, going up 5.4 percent to 313 from 297.

The Advocate’s Timothy Boone reports Livingston Parish saw a 23 percent drop in year-to-year sales, falling from 125 in November 2013 to 96.
