As Part Of ‘Yelp Salutes Our Troops,’ Yelp New Orleans Find 100+ Discounts For Local Military Members

NEW ORLEANS – Yelp Salutes Our Troops is a month-long initiative connecting local businesses to the military and the Yelp community through promoting local military discounts, highlighting veteran-owned businesses, donation drives and more.

Yelp found military families move twice as much than average families and military communities are eager to support local businesses that offer military discounts.

Yelp reps said they have made finding military discounts easier, and now, more than 30 million members of the U.S. military community have the opportunity to discover local businesses that show their appreciation through a military discount on Yelp’s website.

Yelp New Orleans has collected more than 100 military discounts, shared on the site, and has set up a number of local events for those who'd like to show their support of the local military and active troops.

Yelp and The National WWII Museum are inviting members of the community to partake in a night of revelry on Friday, May 19, at The National WWII Museum U.S. Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center, 945 Magazine St., from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. during Military Appreciation Month to celebrate local businesses that show their support for those who have served.

One hundred percent of the donations received at Yelp's “Five-Star Salute” will go to VetLaunch, a local, nonprofit organization that provides veterans with the resources to effectively make the transition from military to civilian life; from business start-up help to job training and placement.

Guests at Yelp's “Five-Star Salute” will enjoy live entertainment from the vivacious Victory Belles and Rosie and The Swingin' Riveters led by Robert Reynolds.

Mister Big Shots Photobooth will be providing photo memories, and VR Arcade NOLA will be transporting guests to Hawaii in a virtual reality experience called “Remembering Pearl Harbor,” created using resources from the National WWII Museum.
