About East NOLA BDD

Letter from the 2016 Chairman
Greetings,
The East New Orleans Business Development District (East NOLA BDD), incorporated in January 2014, held its first organizational meeting in April of that year at which they established a 13 member governance board. The East NOLA BDD Board of Directors determined selection criteria that included the requirement that every member of the board makes a financial commitment to the organization of at least $1000 annually. A member’s financial investment is an indication of a commitment to the goals of the organization, provides critical resources to support the work of the organization, and sets an example for attracting other financial champions. Attendance and participation in board meetings and East NOLA BDD projects are a critical part of a member’s fiduciary and social responsibility.
Why should you join this effort? Self-determination and community development are the characteristics of citizenship that drive both economic prosperity and the quality of life. East NOLA BDD provides an opportunity for all of us to determine our future, develop our community and improve our quality of life. To that end, we continually ask ourselves the question, “if not you, then who?”
Since 2014, our young organization has addressed several challenges. Believing in the words of scripture, that no weapon formed against the righteous will prosper, we have pressed to improve the quality of life in East New Orleans and the City of New Orleans.
Poised for greater economic development in East New Orleans, we are excited about our past efforts and the wealth of opportunities that lay before us. We need more support to help boost our efforts. We ask you to join us in planning and executing the following projects:
• Preparing and developing of a Business Directory for East New Orleans
• Providing quarterly real-estate and industrial development briefings to the community
• Organizing and implementing blight abatement and neighborhood cleanup initiatives
• Conducting a public relations campaign to improve the image of East New Orleans
• Partnering with NASA for the development of their facility, as an example of industrial growth in the area
Without saying more, East New Orleans is in a perfect position for a significant period of growth; just look to the East, New Orleans is rising. Come and join us. This is our community and if we do not determine its future, then who will?
Sincerely,
S/Terrel J. Broussard, Chairman
