6th Annual Crawfish Mambo Celebrates State’s Most Famous Crustacean Saturday With ‘All You Can Eat’

NEW ORLEANS – The sixth annual Crawfish Mambo: Cook-off and Music Festival is a community-wide festival celebrating two favorite Louisiana traditions: crawfish and music.

         Hosted by the UNO International Alumni Association this Saturday, May 13, at The Cove on UNO’s University Campus, from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Crawfish Mambo supports the University of New Orleans, the region’s only public research university, and UNO students.

         There will be parking on campus.

         Now in its sixth year, Crawfish Mambo is New Orleans’ largest crawfish cook-off and features “All-You-Can-Eat” boiled crawfish all day plus the best of live local music. Other food and beverage are available for purchase for those who are do not partake in crawfish.

         More than 50 four-member boil teams will compete for $1,000 in prize money, the Championship Paddle, and bragging rights for a year. A panel of celebrity judges will determine the winner of the Cook-off Competition; attendees will also vote to determine the “Crowd Favorite.” Each team is also invited to compete for the Best Decorated Booth Award.

         The inaugural Crawfish Peel N’ Eat Competition will also commence at this year’s Crawfish Mambo. Contestants from across the U.S. will compete by eating as much crawfish as they can in ten minutes.

         Top-ranked competitive eaters from the Greater New Orleans area and around the country will gather to vie for $1,000 in prize money and the coveted title of Crawfish Peel N’ Eat Champion.

         Live entertainment will include performances by Paris Avenue, The Top Cats, Category 6, Big Sam's Funky Nation and Dash Rip Rock.

         Tickets cost $20.00 if pre-purchased prior to event date.

         Day of event tickets cost $30.00.

         Children seven and under will be admitted for free.
