610 Stompers Audition Notice: Calling Ordinary Men Of New Orleans With Extraordinary Moves

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans’ beloved all-male dance team, the 610 Stompers, will hold its 2017 auditions on Saturday, Aug. 12 and Sunday, Aug. 13, at Harrah’s Casino, 8 Canal St.

All men who can learn a dance routine, add their own flavor, and show some panache are invited by the 610 Stompers to try out to be a member of the most notorious, yet ordinary, male dance group with extraordinary moves.

Auditions are open to all males over 21 years of age.

Registration opens both days at 10:00 a.m. and auditions will tale place until 6:00 p.m.

The public is invited to watch the auditions starting at 12:00 p.m. for a $10 donation, while enjoying beer specials and endless entertainment.

Round 1 auditions will comprise 50 dancers each day. Available spots are on a first come, first served basis. Fifty numbers will be assigned upon arrival. If participants don't make it in that day, they are encouraged to try again the next day. Participants must register and audition on the same day. Once registered, all applicants will be given ample time to learn a new dance routine and must be able to answer a few questions by the Simon Cowell-esque judges, organizers said. Chosen participants will be offered a slot in the Finals on Saturday, Aug. 19.

The 610 Stompers are a 501(c)3 organization and performs in dozens of events hosted by nonprofits throughout the year. Other than showing off dancing skills, potential Stompers should strive to be altruistic and be ready to donate time to fans, reps said.

The 610 Stompers were born in the summer of 2009 as the Saints began their march to the Super Bowl. The 2017 “class” will be the ninth addition to the most beloved male dance group in New Orleans…and the world, reps said.
