10 Acts, 4 Weeks, 1 Winner – The Roux Carre’ Talent Search Begins

NEW ORLEANS – Roux Carre’, a dining destination and live performance venue located at 2000 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., is now accepting submissions for the Roux Carre’ New Orleans Talent Search.

         Aimed at the emerging musical talent of New Orleans, the Talent Search is an opportunity for aspiring musical acts from across New Orleans to take center stage, compete for cash prizes and become the hottest act in New Orleans. 

         Ten contestants will compete in 3 semi-finalist rounds, which are free, and open to the public.

         They will be held at the Roux Carre’, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., on Fridays September 23,  September 30 and October 7, 2016.

         The Final 4 contestants will compete at the winning round on Thursday, October 20, at 8:00 p.m. at the House of Blues New Orleans, 225 Decatur St.

         Tickets cost $10.00 to attend the winning round.



         In keeping with its dedication to supporting emerging talent and the musical culture of New Orleans, contestants of the Roux Carre’ New Orleans Talent Search must reside in greater New Orleans, be 18+, and perform solo or as a group in one of the following musical genres: R&B, Hip-Hop, Caribbean, Latin, Brass Band, Funk, and/ or Jazz. Participating artist must also have social media accounts and will be required to post about the competition.



         Enrollment runs through the Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 12:00 a.m. midnight (CST) deadline. Entrants must share links to their music and videos and complete an on-line application here: www.RouxCarre.com

         Applications will also be available at the Good Work Network/ Roux Carre’ office, 2028 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.,  between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

         A panel of music industry professionals and Roux Carre’ staff will select the 10 contestants.  Music industry professionals will select the finalists and winner with fans/ audience members being able to select fan favorite.



         Contestants will compete across 3 rounds at the Roux Carre’ stage. Each round will result in the elimination of 2 contestants. The competition will culminate with the Final 4 during the winning round at House of Blues New Orleans. The dates are as follow:


Round 1: Friday, September 23, 2016 – (10 contestants)

Round 2: Friday, September 30, 2016 – (8 contestants)

Round 3: Friday, October 7, 2016 – (6 contestants)

The Final 4 & Winning Round: Thursday, October 20, 2016 @ House of Blues.


         Participants will be judged based on vocal and/ or musical ability, audience response, overall quality of the performance, stage presence and creativity. Fans will also be able to experience the competition, and more through Roux Carre’s website and Social Media platforms.



          The 1st Place Grand Prize Winner will receive a $2,500 cash prize, a future concert performance opportunity at House of Blues New Orleans, a professional photo shoot, and a future performance at Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center’s Holiday on the Boulevard. 

         The 2nd Place winner will receive $1,500 cash prize, 3rd Place will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and 4th Place will receive a $500 cash prize.



         A project of Good Work Network, a 501(c)3 organization that provides micro-enterprise business development to minority- and women-owned businesses and members of the creative industries, the Roux Carré is a business accelerator for emerging food-preneurs and a showcase venue for up-and-coming performing and visual artists. 

         Good Work Network offers artists the Roux Carre’ Artists Workshop Series, which helps artists in branding and marketing, and can lead to performances on the Roux Carre’ stage. The Roux Carre’ New Orleans Talent Search aims to strengthen aspiring musicians by providing real world music industry performance opportunities, seed capital and a platform to develop a fan-base.
