WWL-TV recognizes the immediate need for aid in communities working to clean up and rebuild after historic flooding, reps said.
“When we needed a helping hand following Katrina our neighbors were there,” said Tod Smith, WWL-TV president and general manager. “Now, we want to return the favor and say, ‘we're here for you, like you were there for us.’”
The station has partnered with Clearview Mall, United Van Lines, Pilot Flying J, and the Salvation Army to help collect, transport, and distribute goods to those most in need.
WWL-TV’s Hurricane Relief Supply Drive is in conjunction with nationwide relief efforts by the station’s parent company, TEGNA Inc.
Texas Cares, a fund raising initiative launched by TEGNA Inc. just hours after Hurricane Harvery made landfall, has raised more than $3 million to date to support American Red Cross Harvery Relief efforts.
