Chef Toups Launches Off-Menu Monthly Dinner ‘Counter Club’ At Toups South

NEW ORLEANS – Since opening in October 2016, Toups South has been co-owner and Chef Isaac Toups’ culinary playground for imaginative southern regional cuisine. Now, fans and foodies will have the opportunity to spend one night a month with the talented toque at his new intimate off-menu dinner series, Counter Club.

Taking place the third Thursday of every month, Counter Club will launch on Thursday, Sept. 21, held exclusively at the restaurant’s exhibition kitchen counter at 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., inside the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB) in New Orleans.

“Anyone who knows me, knows I love to get creative with the food we’re doing and Counter Club gives me the opportunity to just have fun with menu and do some really cool things,” said Toups, Bravo TV’s “Top Chef” season 13 fan favorite. “I really intend to go out of the box, ditch the menu and flex some of my off kilter ideas.”

The monthly theme dinners, priced at $50 per person (excluding beverages, tax and gratuity), will include four courses, plus an amuse bouche and welcome cocktail. For the premiere dinner, Toups and Chef de Cuisine Seamus Rozycki will serve up “A Fowl Experience” featuring inventive dishes such as duck breast larb – a Lao salad with butter lettuce, minced duck breast, butter lettuce, Thai chili and puffed rice and pickled quail eggs with caviar. Themes for upcoming Counter Club dinners will be revealed the first week of each month; menus will be unavailable for viewing until arriving at Toups South.

Since opening Toups’ Meatery with his wife Amanda in 2012, Chef Toups has been nominated for the prestigious James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef South, as well as other notable accolades. In fall 2016, the duo expanded with the opening of Toups South – an expression of regional southern cuisine within New Orleans’ Southern Food and Beverage Museum.

Toups Meatery is Chef Toups’ representation of authentic Cajun cuisine with a sophisticated approach. At Toups South, he branches out beyond Cajun and explores different regions of the South, showcasing the best of vast flavors that define Southern cuisine.
