NOCVB’s Q4 2017 Convention Sneak Peek

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau (NOCVB) has issued its fourth quarter Convention Sneak Peek for 2017, including a list of CVB-booked business for the months of October, November and December.

NOCVB reps said highlights of the third quarter included the CVB’s annual summer campaigns – COOLinary and Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown, which both featured record numbers of participants. A total of 109 restaurants featured special COOLinary menus in the month of August and, thanks to their success, many continued to offer those discounted meals into September. Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown, during the months of August and September, included a record number of deals, more than 135, from local attractions, hotels and restaurants. The campaign encourages locals to enjoy all of the aspects of our city that more than 10 million visitors come here to enjoy annually and to support local businesses during the slower summer months. The third quarter also welcomed the annual Museum Month in August, which grants members of participating museums complimentary access to all 16 participating museums, and the Louisiana Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Week New Orleans once again featured discounted meals at 119 restaurants, Sept. 11-17.

The fourth quarter of 2017 will continue to bring conventions and events from many industries, including the world’s largest Earth and space science meeting, the American Geophysical Union’s Fall Meeting, which will bring 20,000 attendees, NOCVB reps said. This is the first time in 50 years that the AGU Fall Meeting will be held outside of San Francisco. In addition, the Bayou Classic is returning to New Orleans for the 44th annual Southern University vs. Grambling State University football game. Other conventions and meetings include the American Academy of Nephrology, which will bring 25,000 medical professionals for their Annual Kidney Week and the International WorkBoat Show, which is hosting its 38th consecutive meeting in New Orleans and will bring 14,000 attendees to the city.
