Port’s Propeller Club To Honor Arnold W. Donald As 2015 Maritime Person Of The Year Tomorrow

NEW ORLEANS – The Propeller Club of the U.S. Port of New Orleans will honor Arnold W. Donald, President & CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc, as their 2015 Maritime Person of the Year at their 82nd Annual Maritime Person of the Year Gala on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside’s Napoleon Ballroom, 2 Poydras St.

         There will be a 7:00 p.m. cocktail reception, and an 8:00 p.m. dinner.

         Cocktail attire is requested.

         The event, hosted by the Propeller Club of the U.S. Port of New Orleans, will recognize Donald for Carnival's contributions to the Port and City of New Orleans.

         Donald is President & CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc, the largest cruise company in the world, with a portfolio of cruise brands in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia, comprised of Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn, AIDA Cruises, Costa Cruises, Cunard, P&O Cruises (Australia), P&O Cruises (UK), and fathom.          Previously, Donald was Chairman of Merisant Company, which products include the leading global low-calorie sweetener brands, Equal® and Canderel®.

         Prior to assuming leadership of Merisant, Donald was a Corporate Senior Vice-President at Monsanto Company in St. Louis, MO, with worldwide responsibility that included the company's growth, globalization, and technology initiatives. Other roles within Monsanto included President of the Consumer and Nutrition sector and President of the $4 billion plus Agricultural sector – this latter role marked by the successful introduction and commercialization of Monsanto’s first crop protection products resulting from modern plant biotechnology. He was recognized by the agricultural industry as Agri-Marketer of the Year in 1996.

         A native of New Orleans, Donald received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College, a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

         Donald has an extensive history of involvement in local, national, and international organizations, both professional and civic. In November 1998, Donald was appointed by President Clinton to serve on the President’s Export Council (PEC) for international trade. President Bush re-appointed Donald to the PEC in February 2003.

         Donald currently serves on the boards of Bank of America Corporation and Crown Holdings, Inc. Donald is also on the boards of Carleton College in Northfield, MN, Washington University in St. Louis, MO, the Greater New Orleans Foundation and BJC Healthcare, among others.

         Donald and his wife Hazel have two daughters, Radiah and Alicia, and one son Zachary.
