Last Governor's Race Debate Scheduled For Wednesday Night

BATON ROUGE (AP) — The final TV debate among candidates for Louisiana governor is being held without Republican U.S. Sen. David Vitter.

Wednesday night's event at LSU will include Republican Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle, Republican Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and Democratic state Rep. John Bel Edwards.

Debate organizers said Vitter's campaign cited scheduling conflicts in Washington.

It's the seventh TV debate in the race ahead of Saturday's election. Vitter attended two.

Despite his absence, Vitter appears likely to make the runoff with Edwards. Angelle and Dardenne are trying to gain ground before voters go to the polls.

Beginning at 7:00 p.m. and sponsored by LSU's Tiger TV, the debate will be broadcast by WBRZ in Baton Rouge, WWL in New Orleans, KTBS in Shreveport and KATC in Lafayette and streamed online at www.tigertv.tv.
