IBM’s operations in Louisiana have played a significant role in advancing the state’s software, digital media and IT services sector, the fastest-growing industry sector in the state. A key to the sector’s success is Louisiana’s strategic investment of millions of dollars at higher education campuses throughout the state to expand degree and certification programs in computer science and related STEM fields. IBM operates two Client Innovation Centers in Louisiana, one in downtown Baton Rouge and one in Century Village next to CenturyLink’s headquarters in Monroe.

Saturday’s career fair in New Orleans will help provide the next generation of skilled workers that companies such as IBM will rely upon in Louisiana.

“IBM has played a critical role in the development of the IT industry in Louisiana,” LED FastStart executive director Paul Helton said. “As one of the most established and respected companies in the industry, IBM’s presence in Baton Rouge demonstrates the company’s confidence in the Louisiana workforce. LED and Louisiana’s higher education community are committed to providing IBM with a world-class IT workforce. IBM has partnered with LSU, Southern University and Baton Rouge Community College to create and implement programs of study for both IBM’s needs and those of the greater IT industry across Louisiana.”
