Orleans Parish School Board Outlines Draft Vision And Goals For Unified District, Invites Public Comment Before Adoption

NEW ORLEANS – The Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) has released a draft of A Unified Path Forward, which outlines the OPSB’s draft vision and goals for New Orleans public schools. This follows a nearly yearlong community engagement process where thousands of stakeholders provided feedback and ideas through surveys, town halls and public working sessions with the elected school board.

Now, the OPSB is inviting the public to review the draft vision and goals and provide additional feedback before it is finalized later this month. On July 1, 2018 all New Orleans public schools will be under the OPSB’s oversight. The draft plan will inform the way forward for all New Orleans public schools, including charters.

The OPSB’s stated draft vision ensures every student receives a high-quality education that fosters his or her individual capabilities, while ensuring they thrive and are prepared for civic, social and economic success.
