Chef Emeril Lagasse To Be Honored At New Orleans Wine & Food Experience

NEW ORLEANS —The New Orleans Wine & Food Experience (NOWFE) is proud to announce that the 2018 Ella Brennan Lifetime Achievement in Hospitality Award will be bestowed on celebrity chef, restaurateur, television personality, author and philanthropist Emeril Lagasse.

The gala celebration will take place on Jan. 25, 2018 at 7 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Canal Street.

“We are so pleased to honor Chef Emeril for the extraordinary achievements and contributions he has made to the culinary industry,” states Traci Beninate, NOWFE Past President. “His creativity and unique style has elevated Louisiana cuisine to a national level, opening doors for so many young chefs, and nurturing a future generation of chefs. It is an honor for NOWFE to bestow the Ella Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award on Chef Emeril, and we are thankful she took that chance on him so many years ago.”

Emeril Lagasse is the chef/proprietor of 14 restaurants, including four in New Orleans (Emeril’s, NOLA, Emeril’s Delmonico and Meril); four in Las Vegas (Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House, Delmonico Steakhouse, Table 10 and Lagasse’s Stadium); two in Orlando (Emeril’s Orlando and Emeril’s Tchoup Chop); and three at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Pennsylvania (Emeril’s Fish House, Emeril’s Chop House and Burgers And More by Emeril). Most recently he opened his 14th restaurant in Miramar Beach, Florida (Emeril’s Coastal Italian).

Lagasse has appeared as a guest judge in four seasons of Bravo’s hit food series, “Top Chef,” was named a co-host on the 10th season of the “Rachael Ray Show,” and has appeared on the Cooking Channel with five seasons of “Emeril’s Florida.” He is the bestselling author of 19 cookbooks, the latest, Essential Emeril: Favorite Recipes and Hard-Won Wisdom from My Life in the Kitchen, released in October 2015.

In 2002, Lagasse established the Emeril Lagasse Foundation to support children’s educational programs that inspire and mentor young people through the culinary arts, nutrition, healthy eating, and important life skills. To date, the Foundation has distributed $8 million in grants benefitting children’s charities in New Orleans, Las Vegas and on the Gulf Coast. In 2013, Lagasse was named the Humanitarian of the Year by the James Beard Foundation for his dedicated efforts to further the culinary arts in America, as well as his philanthropic work supporting children’s educational programs through his Foundation.

The Ella Brennan Award recognizes one individual each year that has made a lifetime commitment to the hospitality industry through extraordinary leadership, personal and professional accomplishments and philanthropic contributions to the community. The Lifetime Achievement in Hospitality Award is named for restaurateur legend Ella Brennan. Her deep passion and commitment has made a significant and longstanding impact on the New Orleans hospitality industry. The award’s past recipients include Chef Paul Prudhomme, philanthropist Bill Goldring, Chef Leah Chase, restaurateurs Drago and Klara Cvitanovich, Audubon leader Ron Forman, and local restaurateur Ralph Brennan.

Tickets to the event are available at nowfe.com for $175 per person, and proceeds benefit the many local non-profit organizations that NOWFE supports throughout the year.
