Association Of Fundraising Professionals Announce Outstanding Contributors
NEW ORLEANS – The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater New Orleans Chapter will honor outstanding contributors for the New Orleans community, at its annual National Philanthropy Day (NPD) luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Audubon Tea Room, 6500 Magazine St.
A champagne reception at 11:30 a.m. kicks off the 12:00 p.m. luncheon.
National Philanthropy Day is a celebration of all members contributing to the success of philanthropy, reps said. AFP chapters across the globe honor this day through events, such as the New Orleans Luncheon. The Honored Key Note Speaker is Andy Kopplin, CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. Funds raised from the luncheon will provide educational scholarship opportunities for nonprofit leaders to positively impact their charitable work in our community.
Organizers said Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year, Joy and Boysie Bollinger symbolize the Philanthropic definition: “the love of Humanity.” Mr. Bollinger, chairman and CEO of Bollinger Enterprises, LLC, serves on numerous boards of directors, including The University Medical Center Management, Audubon Commission and Board of First Bank and Trust. Mrs. Bollinger is a true patron of the arts and has served as founding board member for the Ogden Museum of Southern Art Board, along with prior appointments as board member for the New Orleans Museum of Art, The Audubon Nature Institute, and was presidential appointee on the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, reps said.
Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year, Karen Saunders DeBlieux, is deeply committed to the New Orleans Community, reps said. An eighth generation New Orleanian, DeBlieux has received many awards for her leadership in volunteering including: YMCA Humanitarian of the Year, St. Elizabeth’s Guild Activist and United Way’s Outstanding Persons of the Year.
Also receiving honors: Outstanding Foundation, Feil Family Foundation; Outstanding Professional Fundraiser, Roselle M. Ungar, CFRE; Outstanding Leader in Corporate Giving, United Healthcare; Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy, Mignon Blanc; and Board of Directors Award, The Helis Foundation.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents 30,000 fundraisers in 222 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The Association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
