NEW ORLEANS – The governing board of New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) announces the launch of a national search for an executive director as part of Carol Markowitz’s transition from founding executive director to founding member and treasurer of NOCHI’s Board of Directors. Markowitz will join the leadership team at Loyola University (New Orleans) as chief operating officer on July 1.

“Carol’s rare diversity of talents has shepherded NOCHI through countless milestones and our city is lucky to keep this top talent,” said Ti Martin, co-founder and NOCHI’s board chair. “We are excited for Carol to serve the board in such an important role as we graduate our inaugural class, place them in roles across the region, and continue our efforts to serve an ever-growing demographic in the hospitality industry.”

Markowitz began her role with NOCHI shortly after the initial founding in 2013, and oversaw all aspects of the landmark project, including the development of a strong, experienced team that boasts world-class culinary instructors. The school opened its doors in January to students who will graduate this June, and enrollment for the next term is expected to double in size of the inaugural class. NOCHI’s next term begins in July 2019.

“I am extremely proud of what our extraordinarily talented team has accomplished this year with the launch of New Orleans’ premier culinary school,”says Markowitz. “I am honored by the board’s decision to designate me as a founding member and am looking forward to continuing our work in my new capacity as Treasurer of the Board.”

The search for NOCHI’s next executive director is being handled by Protégé Search, a nationally recognized executive search firm founded by New Orleans native Rory Verret. NOCHI expects to announce the appointment this summer.
