NEW ORLEANS – Lusher Charter School 2016 graduate Keiana Cavé was a featured speaker at this year’s TEDxESADE in Spain earlier this month.
Cavé just completed her freshman year at the University of Michigan, was recently chosen as one of Forbes 2017 “30 Under 30,” and is also scheduled to be the Lusher High School Graduation Commencement Speaker on May 22, at Tulane University’s McAlister Auditorium, at 6:00 p.m.
As a Lusher student, Cavé received second place in the 2015 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her earth and environmental sciences project. As a result of the work she presented at that fair, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory science lab discovered an asteroid and NASA named it for her.
As a Lusher senior, Cavé was also invited to participate in a live webinar in Washington, D.C., titled “2016 Black History Month: The Next Generation of Youth Entrepreneurs in STEM Innovation,” which showcased innovators as they share their motivation to spearhead STEM discoveries for their generation.
“We are very proud of Keiana and her accomplishments,” said Lusher CEO Kathy Riedlinger. “She has proven to be a national leader in STEM, putting into practice the work she mastered in Lusher’s engineering program and is a remarkable young woman who will accomplish great things.”
