ISL Teacher Appointed President Of The Louisiana Consortium Of Spanish Immersion Schools

NEW ORLEANS – International School of Louisiana teacher Martha Gastanaduy was recently appointed as President of the Louisiana Consortium of Spanish Immersion Schools (LCSIS) for the second year in a row.

         Gastanaduy is a 1st grade Spanish Language Immersion teacher at the school’s Jefferson campus.

         ISL staff members Maria Dugue and Blanca Guzman will also join as members of the Board.

         "We will work very hard to represent ISL at the State Level," said Gastanaduy.

         The Louisiana Consortium of Spanish Immersion Schools is a non-profit teachers association interested in the Education through the Immersion Programs in the State of Louisiana. The Consortium works under the guidance of the Louisiana Department of Education with the aim of unifying Immersion Programs and to support academic achievements of the students that belong to these Programs.

          “At the International School of Louisiana we believe that the immersion education is the most successful way of acquiring a second language and an effective way to raise academic performance of the students," said Melanie Tennyson, CEO/ Head of School of ISL. “Mrs. Gastanaduy understands immersion education firsthand having served as an International School of Louisiana Spanish Language immersion teacher for many years.”
