Medcentris Celebrates Ten Years of Healing

HAMMOND, La. – MedCentris, one of the leading wound healing companies in the nation, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2019. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only about 30% of small businesses reach the 10-year mark. Details were shared in a press release.

Originally known as Wound Care Associates, LLC, it changed its dba to MedCentris in 2014. Led by co-founders, Dr. Shaun Carpenter, CEO and Todd Shaffett, President, MedCentris has grown from a startup that operated from Shaffett’s home in Bush, Louisiana, to their corporate headquarters in Hammond, Louisiana, where it also operates one of its private Wound Medicine clinics.

Between 2009 and 2011, the company quickly expanded, operating from locations in long-term, acute-care hospitals (LTACHs) and regional care centers in Covington, Mandeville, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 2011, MedCentris moved into its first corporate headquarters on Highway 190 in Covington, then to Louis Prima Drive in 2012. Another significant accomplishment was the opening of its first clinic known as Northshore Specialty Group Institute for Advanced Wound Healing.

In 2013, additional LTACH partnerships brought expansion into Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana, followed by a move into Lafayette in 2014 and the opening of its first private clinic in Hammond. Between 2016 and 2018, MedCentris expanded into other markets including Alexandria, New Orleans, and Vidalia, Louisiana, and opened operations in Gulfport and Vicksburg, Mississippi. Two private clinics have already opened in the first quarter — Slidell, Louisiana, in January, and Vicksburg, Mississippi, in March.

“It’s hard to believe we’ve already come so far on this journey. We’re incredibly indebted to so many patients and partners for putting their trust and faith in us. We look forward to fulfilling our mission and educating the healthcare arena about Wound Medicine and how it can change and save the lives of patients,” said Dr. Shaun Carpenter, CEO of MedCentris.

With headquarters in Hammond, Louisiana, and 200 active employees, MedCentris provides advanced wound-healing protocols, technology and innovative products that help wounds heal in the shortest time possible.
