The American Chemical Society Convenes in New Orleans for its National Meeting & Expo, March 18-22

ACS Kids Zone, a free, hands-on science community event, in partnership with the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, is open to the public on March 17.

NEW ORLEANS – The American Chemical Society (ACS) will meet in New Orleans for its National Meeting and Exposition, March 18-22, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The event is anticipated to welcome 15,000 attendees from around the world, and will feature 50+ professional training courses and workshops, and more than 300 exhibitors.

This year, the ACS has partnered with the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) to host a Kids Zone community event on Saturday, March 17 at the Lyons Recreation Center. This free event will provide families with the chance to conduct hands-on activities, get goodie bags that include the ACS’s children’s publication, Celebrating Chemistry, learn more about ACS’s community partners and celebrate 15 years of Chemists Celebrate Earth Week with the theme “Dive into Marine Chemistry.”

The ACS’s vision is to improve people’s lives through the transforming power of chemistry.

This will be the ninth time that the ACS has held an event in New Orleans; the 2013 National Meeting and Expo was their most recent. This year, the projected economic impact is $17.6 million.
