Capricorn Investment Group’s Dr. James Lyons To Speak At The Frontier Conference

NEW ORLEANS – The Frontier, an engaging, new conference about innovations, taking place in New Orleans from Wednesday, April 12, through Friday, April 14, at the Hyatt Regency, 601 Loyola Ave., has announced the addition of another keynote speaker – Dr. James Lyons, chief technologist of Capricorn Investment Group.

         “Dr. James Lyons has the experience and knowledge that will inspire and motivate everyone that attends,” said Hank Torbert, co-founder of The Frontier. “His presentation is expected to create an environment that will push our attendees and change their way of thinking. There will be many great keynote speakers that will be speaking at our conference, and we are thrilled to have Dr. Lyons as one of those amazing individuals.”

         Dr. Lyons entered the venture capital business in 2008 after a 30-year technology career at General Electric. Dr. Lyons is currently the principal at the Farmington River Technologies consulting firm and also serves as chief technologist for the venture investment teams at the Capricorn Investment Group and Energy Innovation focused on the creation and growth of clean/renewable energy companies.

          Dr. Lyons has led many additional technology and business initiatives e.g. waste gasification, electric vehicles, advanced batteries, power electronics, solid-state lighting, solar PV, rural electrification and nuclear fusion. He currently serves on a variety of technical board assignments including: Curent ERC, Servato, Encell, Sunpreme, Kinestral, Sunfolding, Pinnacle Engines, Growing Energy Labs, and Norwegian Crystals. He holds 40 patents and a BSEE degree from RPI, an MSEE from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. from Cornell University.
