Arts Market Downtown Premieres Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – Arts Market New Orleans, the region’s leading fine art and crafts market, launches a downtown edition of the art market on Saturday, April 1. Presented by the Downtown Development District and organized by the Arts Council New Orleans, the Arts Market Downtown will appear from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at 750 Carondelet St. at Julia Street and highlight an intimate and curated market of up-and-coming local artists, vintage sellers, jewelry designers, furniture makers and food purveyors on select Saturdays in conjunction with the Arts District New Orleans’ First Saturday Art Walk.

         The opening Saturday, April 1, Arts Market Downtown presented by the Downtown Development District will feature local artwork including prints by Bare Bones Studio, Arts Kinetic jewelry, Panthera textiles, Ridgewalker Glass work, Ardor 4 Nola Furniture, along with additional local artists’ work.

         Singer, songwriter and guitarist Tasche de la Rocha will perform from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. La Cubana and Petite Rouge food trucks will round out the festive experience along with multimedia artist Elise Ingber will be illustrating custom pins for market guests by donation.

         The Arts Market Downtown is the newest addition to the growing cultural offering in the New Orleans Arts District serving the growing downtown New Orleans community.

         Downtown Development District of New Orleans (DDD) was created by the Louisiana Legislature in 1974 as the nation’s first assessment-based business improvement district (BID) to provide enhanced services economic development, cleaning and safety. The DDD services the area bounded by Iberville Street, the Pontchartrain Expressway, Claiborne Avenue and the Mississippi River.

         Arts Council New Orleans is a private, multidisciplinary, nonprofit organization designated as the City of New Orleans’ official arts agency. The Arts Council’s mission is to support arts and culture and demonstrate how they transform communities.
