Ralph Brennan Buys Napoleon House

“The Impastato Family Transfers 101 Year Ownership of the Napoleon House to Ralph Brennan Who Will Preserve the Cherished Landmark.” That announcement was made earlier today though the office of restaurateur Ralph Brennan.

According to Todd A. Price with NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune, the sale will take place on April 30, 2015.

The Impastato family, who has owned and operated the French Quarter bar and restaurant since 1920, will sell the business and the building.

Joseph Impastato first bought the building on 500 Chartres St., which used to be home to New Orleans Mayor Nicholas Girod, for $14,000. Sal Impastato and his sisters will sell The Napoleon House, famous for its movie cameos, heated muffulettas and Pimm’s Cups, to Brennan for an undisclosed amount.

Brennan just reopened Brennan's on Royal Street, and will run both restaurants.

While Brennan's underwent extensive renovations, Brennan told Price he doesn't plan to change the ambiance of The Napoleon House.
