Gobble, Gobble – Local Businesses Cash In On Turkey Day



Maison Dupuy’s Bistreaux Restaurant

         In 2015 more than 51 million turkeys were consumed on Thanksgiving, U.S. spending on Thanksgiving dinners totaled more than $2.8 billion and the average household spent $56.18 on Thanksgiving dinner and $312 during Thanksgiving weekend, according to the Statistic Brain Research Institute.

         Next Thursday, Nov. 24, several New Orleans businesses will try to get their piece of the pie.

         Give thanks with family and friends in the Maison Dupuy’s lush outdoor Courtyard or inside the Bistreaux Restaurant for Thanksgiving Day dinner. Guests with dinner reservations are also invited to stay the night in one of the hotel’s distinctive rooms at $99 for single or double occupancy. The Thanksgiving package includes deluxe accommodations with half off for parking at $19 per night and two vouchers for cocktails in The Bistreaux. Suite prices are also available.

         The hotel’s Executive Chef Matt Regan has created a $48 (excluding tax and gratuity) three-course prix-fixe Thanksgiving menu showcasing his culinary style – American Gulf Coast with strong traditional Creole and Cajun influences. Menu items will also be offered a la carte:

 

First Course

Pumpkin and Shrimp Bisque ($9)

Seafood Gumbo, Louisiana Jasmine Rice ($9)

Mixed Lettuce Salad with Apple, Spiced Pecans, Blue Cheese and Sherry Vinaigrette ($8)

Roasted Beet and Brussels Sprout Salad with Pumpkin Seeds, Hard Goat Cheese and Honey Vinaigrette ($8)

 

Second Course

Roast Turkey, Giblet Gravy, Cranberry Sauce ($28)

Roast Porchetta, Satsuma Glaze ($29)

Seafood Stuffed Redfish, Sauce Maltaise ($31)

Choice of Two Sides: Blue Crab Mac and Cheese, Oyster Dressing, Whipped Sweet Potatoes, Shrimp and Andouille Cornbread Dressing or Southern Collard Greens

 

Third Course

Sweet Potato Pecan Pie ($9)

Pumpkin Cheesecake ($8)

White Chocolate Bread Pudding ($8)

 

         A Kid’s Menu will cost $18 for children 12 and under, and features Gumbo, Turkey with Gravy or Chicken Tenders each served with a side of Mac and Cheese and two scoops of Ice Cream.

         The Thanksgiving menu will be served from 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day only.

         Price includes complimentary parking.

         Reservations are required.


        Celebrity Chef Nina Compton is planning a spectacular Thanksgiving Feast at Compere Lapin. Located inside the historic Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery, Compere Lapin has earned the reputation for serving up a “startlingly original take” on New Orleans flavors.

         On Thanksgiving Day, Chef Compton’s three-course prix-fixe dinner, priced at $75 per person (excluding tax and gratuity), will feature a selection of original Fall-inspired dishes:

Or Curried Cauliflower Soup with Local Shrimp

 

Second Course

(Choice of)

Roasted Turkey Wellington with Butternut Squash and Brussels Sprouts

Green Beans with Fontina Fondue and Crispy Shallots

Pumpkin Crostata with Fall Fruit, Bourbon Caramel and Spiced Cane Syrup Ice Cream
