LSU Health New Orleans' Pierce Elected To National Office

 

NEW ORLEANS — The American Nurses Association (ANA) Membership Assembly elected Stephanie Pierce, PhD, MN, RN, CNE, Program Director for Baccalaureate Articulation, CARE, and Nurse Educator MSN Programs at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing, as its next Secretary. The position is one of nine on the ANA’s Board of Directors. Dr. Pierce will take office on January 1, 2019.

ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting a safe and ethical work environment, bolstering the health and wellness of nurses, and advocating on health care issues that affect nurses and the public. ANA is at the forefront of improving the quality of health care for all.”

At LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing, Pierce is responsible for the day-to-day operations of three programs – the Career Alternative RN Education Program, which is designed for people who already have a bachelor’s degree and want to change careers; the RN to BSN Program, an accelerated program to advance the education of nurses with an associate degree or diploma; and the Nurse Educator Master’s Program designed to prepare nurses to become nurse educators.

Pierce has been an active member of the Louisiana State Nurses Association, serving as Chairperson and Director for Leadership and Education. She was on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Nurses Foundation. At the American Nurses Association, Pierce served on the Code of Ethics Revision Professional Issues Panel Advisory Committee and the Ethics Advisory Board. She currently serves on the ANA Moral Resilience Advisory Committee. Pierce has also served as Communications Chairperson for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's (AACN) Organizational Leadership Network and is presently a member of the Planning Committee for the AACN Annual Faculty Development Conference.

LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing is the only nursing school within an academic health sciences center in Louisiana.
