Deadline Nears For Louisiana Homeowners To Seek Flood Aid

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Homeowners with damage from the 2016 Louisiana floods have only a few days left to apply for a federally-financed aid program.

The deadline for filling out a survey that starts the process for homeowner assistance through the Restore Louisiana program is Friday.

Homeowners can fill out the survey online at restore.la.gov, call 1-866-735-2001 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday or visit a housing assistance center in Lafayette, Hammond, Monroe or Baton Rouge on weekdays.

The Restore Louisiana program is encouraging all homeowners with damage from the March and August 2016 floods to complete the survey, even if they don't think they qualify for assistance or have already finished repairs.

Nearly 13,000 people have received grant offers totaling $348 million so far from the federally-funded homeowner program.
