New Beginnings Schools Foundation Appoints Blouin-Williams As CEO

NEW ORLEANS — The New Beginnings Schools Foundation (NBSF) board unanimously selected Michelle Blouin-Williams as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

         "It is an honor and a privilege to be selected to serve as Chief Executive Officer of New Beginnings Schools Foundation," said Blouin-Williams. "I thank the Board Membership for this tremendous opportunity and take their confidence and this great responsibility of which they have entrusted upon me to lead New Beginnings Schools Foundation very seriously. I am excited to serve the students and families of our community and I look forward to working with the talented men and women in our organization as we create clear paths for student success."

         Blouin-Williams was born, raised and educated in New Orleans. Her deep ties to the community coupled with her wealth of education and leadership experience made her the ideal candidate for the position, NBSF reps said.

         "Ms. Blouin-Williams has the experience and expertise, specifically, a leader with demonstrated success in delivering academic growth," said Leslie Bouie, NBSF Board Chair. "The role of CEO requires educational experience at the system level, business acumen and phenomenal people skills. Ms. Blouin-Williams has demonstrated success in managing systems, processes, people and a multi-million dollar budget. She brings all of those talents to the table. We're extremely excited about the possibilities for our 2,100 students."

         As CEO, Blouin-Williams will oversee strategic planning, academics, governance and finance at Pierre A. Capdau Charter School, Gentilly Terrace Charter School, Medard H. Nelson Charter School and Lake Area New Tech Early College High School. NBSF reps said after an extensive search, led by an independent consulting firm, Blouin-Williams was selected to be interviewed by the NBSF's board search committee because of her extensive experience, vision for excellence and record of success within student achievement.

         Blouin-Williams' tenure as an educational leader includes serving as the Chief Administrative Officer in Orleans Parish, Mathematics Teacher, Secondary Mathematics Supervisor, Network Executive Director, Chief Human Capital Officer, Chief Academic Officer and Deputy/Acting Superintendent in Jefferson Parish. She also completed the Secondary Mathematics Alternative Certification Program at Southern University at New Orleans. In addition, Blouin-Williams holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Master of Arts in the Science of Teaching Mathematics from the University of New Orleans.

         "Ms. Blouin-Williams will begin her transition to NBSF with visits to all school sites before the first day of school," said Wanda Brooks, NBSF Board Member. "She is looking forward to holding collaborative meetings with internal and external stakeholders such as board members, school leaders, administrators, and teachers, central office team, and student groups, parent groups and community organizations during the transition."
