BGR Wins National Awards For Research

NEW ORLEANS – The Bureau of Governmental Research (BGR) won two awards from the Governmental Research Association (GRA) at its national conference in Denver on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

BGR received the Outstanding Policy Achievement award for its research laying the groundwork to reform New Orleans’ antiquated Civil Service system and for assisting the city in its reform efforts last year. It won the award for Most Effective Education for its efforts to educate the public and policymakers during the 2014 legislative session on several bills that would have compromised the independence of the two flood protection authorities in the New Orleans area.

Established in 1914, GRA is the national organization for governmental research professionals. This is the ninth year in a row that GRA has recognized BGR’s work. In presenting the awards, GRA officials noted that BGR is among the most prolific award winners in the nation.
