Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty, Dave Matthews To Headline 2017 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

NEW ORLEANS –  The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell today announced the music lineup for the 2017 Festival scheduled for April 28 – 30 and May 4 – 7. The festival annually celebrates the unique culture and heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana, alongside unforgettable performances by nationally and internationally renowned guest artists. With 12 stages and more than 500 bands performing virtually every style of music, Jazz Fest presents one of the entertainment world’s most diverse music lineups. Hundreds of thousands of fans annually flock to the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course for Jazz Fest, which has been called America’s best festival.

         This year Jazz Fest will shine a spotlight on the culture of Cuba, with performances by Cuban artists across the Fair Grounds and at the 2017 Cultural Exchange Pavilion – a specially curated area dedicated to the music, food, arts and crafts of Cuba.

         Advanced early-bird single-day tickets for Jazz Fest are $65 through Feb. 14. The advanced ticket price will be $70 beginning on Feb. 15. The gate price ticket will be $80. Children’s tickets (ages 2 – 10) are still only $5 and are available at the gate only. Single-day tickets to Jazz Fest are on sale by specific weekend, with each ticket valid for a single day’s attendance.

         The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. is the nonprofit organization that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The Foundation uses the proceeds from Jazz Fest, and other raised funds, for year-round activities in the areas of education, economic development and cultural enrichment. Education programs include the Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music, the HSM Beginners program, the Tom Dent Congo Square Lecture Series, the Class Got Brass competition, workshops on New Orleans cultural traditions and more. Economic Development initiatives include Community Partnership Grants, the Catapult Fund accelerator program and the Sync Up entertainment industry conference. Cultural enrichment programs include a free jazz concert series and four free community festivals: the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival, the Congo Square Rhythms Festival, the Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival and the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival.          The much-loved Jazz & Heritage Foundation Gala will be held on Thursday, April 27, at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel. The Gala is an evening of music, food and fun that directly supports the Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music, a free music instruction program that reaches more than 100 students each week. This year’s Gala will feature “A Neville Family Funktion” – a multi-generational performance featuring members of the First Family of New Orleans Funk featuring Art, Charles, Cyril, Ian, Ivan and Jason joined by very special guests. Also performing will be the world-renowned Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro of Cuba.

         The Johnny Jackson Jr. Gospel Is Alive Celebration, a free event that is part of the Jazz Fest Educational Workshops and also an outreach to the senior citizen community, takes place Monday, May 1, at the Franklin Ave. Baptist Church and features The Clark Sisters.
