State Government To Auction Off Surplus Property

BATON ROUGE (AP) — More of the state's vehicles will be up for auction Saturday in Baton Rouge.

In addition to about 30 vehicles, other items up for bidding this weekend include office, farming and medical equipment; boats; digital cameras; and school lockers.

The Advocate reports a 2012 Dodge Ram and a 2005 Honda Civic are among the used vehicles for sale.

A series of auctions began about a year ago after analysts determined that more than 1,400 of the state-owned vehicles were considered "underutilized," meaning they had been driven less than 15,000 miles in a year. The cars up for auction this weekend are not a part of that program but are ones that have been upgraded, according to the state Division of Administration.

The state's surplus property auctions are open to the public and take place at the Louisiana Property Assistance Agency office at 1059 Brickyard Lane.

The vehicles will be available for inspection from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
