Prosper Jefferson To Focus On Setting Goals, Success In 2016

FAIRFIELD, LA – The latest installment of the Prosper Jefferson seminar series will focus on setting goals to cultivate success in the New Year on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the JEDCO Conference Center, 701A Churchill Parkway, in Avondale, LA, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

This month, two business consultants from the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC), Michael Pennison and Richard Melancon will cover a variety of topics related to business strategy. Participants will learn how to set main business goals and how to apply integrity-based leadership principles to guide employees and obtain business success in 2016.

Pennison, a business advisor, has over 30 years of business experience. His background includes consulting, project management, purchasing contracted services, information technology, engineering, construction professional speaking, and oil & gas production. Since 2006, Pennison has worked to assist businesses with strategy, operations, financial projections and marketing and helps businesses focus on the solutions they offer to their customers.

Pennison teaches seminars on a variety of topics including starting and financing a business, understanding financial statements, marketing, project management and business plan writing. Pennison maintains two certifications: a CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) issued by the Institute for Supply Management and a CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) from the Association for Operations Management. Pennison is also a certified trainer of the Covey 7 Habits for Small Business Managers and he has an MBA from Loyola University.

Mélançon has over 25 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant, business consultant and professional speaker. He has worked with companies from coast-to-coast to improve operations, enhance security, identify workflow improvements, build an ethical culture, and improve staff productivity.

Melancon has published three books since 2009. His first book, "You Can Afford the Good Life," is a personal money management guide for people who are in financial crisis. His second book "18 Secrets to Unlock Profits and Inspire Employees," helps companies to implement "Best Practices" to operate an effective business. His third book, "Integrity-Based Leadership," helps business owners align their personal values with the corporate mission to reduce stress, build the employee team spirit, and expand profits significantly. He also speaks on a range of business topics, including staff motivation, disaster recovery and business resiliency, understanding financial statements, internal controls and business sustainability.

Developed by the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) and the Jefferson Chamber, Prosper Jefferson provides business owners with information they need to grow and find success in our community.

Admission is free and the event is open to all businesses and entrepreneurs.
