KENNER – Dr. Raymond Poliquit, a Kenner pediatrician and ER physician, has announced the grand opening of his new small business, El Doco Loco Dance Studio.
The grand opening reception was held at the dance studio at 500 Vintage Drive Unit F, Kenner.
The new dance studio aims to be a community center bringing fun to the average fitness routine at the Chateau Estates neighborhood.
It is offering a variety of Zumba fitness programs including Zumba Kids and Strong by Zumba, as well as specialty dance classes like line dancing.
Drop ins are at $7 per person, or a $30 punch card good for 5 classes a month is available for purchase. In the spirit of providing equal access to fitness programs for all, a “Community Zumba” class is offered every Saturday mornings with a suggested donation of $5 per person for entry.
Proceeds will go towards a Scholarship Fund that will assist aspiring indigent Zumba instructors in the Philippines with their Zumba Instructor Network licensure fees. Also unique to the dance studio is the five week Zumba Kids program for children 7-11 years of age. On the 6th week, an open recital will be scheduled for parents and other family members to see the dances that their children have learned. The dance studio is will also be available for rental to the community as a venue for quinceañera celebrations and other events.
About Dr. Raymond Poliquit
Raymond, a.k.a “The Zumba Doc” is a pediatrician and ER physician for 25 years originally from the Philippines now resides in New Orleans. Currently he is the Chief Medical Director of Healthy Blue, an Anthem/BlueCross BlueShield Medicaid managed care company. His interest in Zumba started in May 2016 when he started attending classes with Mark Melasky. He received his Zumba Instructor certification in February 2017. Since then, he has danced at Zumba stages around Louisiana (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houma, Destrehan, Monroe, and New Iberia), New York (East Hamptons), Arizona (Tucson), Philippines (Makati, Batangas, and Bacolod) and Mexico (Cancun).
