Fund 17 To Host “Summer Happy Hour” To Celebrate And Raise Funds For New Incubator Project
NEW ORLEANS — Fund 17 of New Orleans will be opening a Community Business Incubator in the fall. It will serve as an inclusive and accessible resource center for entrepreneurs and small business owners. They plan to offer technology and equipment including computers, printers, books and cameras. In order to provide these resources, they are hosting a Summer Happy Hour Fundraiser to support the launch of the new space.
"Incubators and co-working spaces are becoming more and more common in New Orleans, but too often those spaces are geared towards the white male dominated tech space." said Founder and Executive Director of Fund 17 Haley Burns. "We envision our Community Business Incubator as a place for entrepreneurs and small business owners from the neighborhood to access valuable resources and support to grow their ideas and sustain their livelihoods."
This happy hour will provide an exclusive look into Fund 17’s plans for our Community Business Incubator. The organization encourages business, corporations, foundations and individuals to attend and learn about the many opportunities to sponsor the space and join their mission of creating an inclusive, equitable local economy.
Food and drinks will be for sale. All proceeds will benefit the launch of the Community Business Incubator. Want to experience the space as a coworker or can’t make it to the Happy Hour? Freelance Friday, a free co-working event, will be be starting at 9:00 a.m.
The Community Business Incubator is a part of a new development, the Rose Collaborative on Bayou Rd and Columbus Street. This project is led by Alembic Community Development and brings together multiple partners in the arts and education.
