University of New Orleans Launches Certificate Program in Human Capital Management

New Orleans - Yesterday, the University of New Orleans announced that it has launched a certificate program in human capital management. The program is designed to help human resources professionals, managers and other business leaders enhance their abilities to maximize effectiveness within their organizations.

Certificates are attained by completion of four courses that can be taken in any sequence. Courses focus on strategic organization and planning, organizational change management, rewards management and maximizing organization performance. The first course will be offered Tuesday, Aug. 22 from 6-9 p.m. in Kirschman Hall on the UNO campus.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this kind of training for professionals who want to see their organizations become more effective,” said John Williams, dean of UNO’s College of Business Administration.

“There is a projected growth in the demand for this type of expertise, and we want to make sure business leaders in greater New Orleans region have access to the skills they need to remain competitive,” Williams added.

Courses will be taught by James T. Stodd, principal of a management consulting firm specializing in strategic organization planning, change management and compensation and reward management. Stodd has served as the chief human resource officer for four prestigious organizations as well as on the consulting staff of several top-tier firms. He is certified by the Society of Human Resource Management as a senior professional in human resources. He was recognized in 2010 as a distinguished instructor at the University of California-Irvine, where he taught organizational leadership, change management and human resource management.

The non-degree, non-credit program is recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) for 24 professional development units.

The university suggests that for more information about the human capital management certificate program, you contact Aundrea Kloor, director of external relations and corporate development for UNO’s College of Business Administration, via email at or by phone at (504) 280-3622.
