Royal Street Galleries Cleaning Up For Dirty Linen Night

NEW ORLEANS – The 16th annual Dirty Linen Night, a satirical event presented by the galleries and businesses between the 200 – 1000 blocks of Royal Street in the French Quarter, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

The event’s tradition is for art lovers to celebrate the popular art event wearing the same linens they may have soiled the week before during White Linen Night, on Saturday, Aug. 5, that takes place in the Warehouse District and along Magazine Street.

More than 10,000 attendees are expected to explore Royal Street as well as neighboring streets like Dutch Alley and Jackson Square. Many galleries open their doors and offer drinks and scrumptious bites, organizers said.

Special Dirty Linen Night décor is placed outside of participating businesses so that it is easy to identify their support of Dirty Linen Night. The evening also features musical groups and wandering street entertainment.

Admission is free, but bracelets are being sold to secure patrons’ drinks and food in all participating locations. Look out for special after-party bracelets available the day of the event.
