Roy Anderson Corp. Awarded Louisiana Children's Museum Construction Contract For New City Park Location

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) has awarded the construction contract for its new facility in New Orleans City Park to Roy Anderson Corp. (RAC). The project will begin with site preparation this month. The nearly $28 million building construction is estimated to take approximately 20 months to complete.
“Many generous partners and people in our city, state and beyond, have played an important role in our progress toward a reimagined Louisiana Children’s Museum at City Park,” said Julia Bland, CEO of the Louisiana Children’s Museum. “It is exciting to begin construction and continue our journey to make a difference in the lives – and futures – of Louisiana’s youngest citizens.”
The project intends to meet LEED Silver certification standards for sustainable construction, which will be the first such designation in City Park.
“We are excited to have been awarded this project as the Louisiana Children’s Museum is very important for the City of New Orleans and the entire region,” said Roy Anderson, III president and CEO of RAC. The Louisiana Children’s Museum will be managed from RAC’s New Orleans office.
Vanir Construction Management, Inc. is the construction manager for the LCM City Park project. The lead architect on the project is Seattle-based MithÅ«n, a national leader in sustainable design.  MithÅ«n is supported locally by Waggonner & Ball Architects.
