Ochsner Nationally Ranked In 4 Specialties, Named Top In LA By U.S. News & World Report

NEW ORLEANS –  Ochsner Medical Center, Ochsner Medical Center – West Bank Campus and Ochsner Baptist* have again been ranked among the best hospitals in the country in four medical specialties, according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2017 - 2018 - Best Hospitals rankings. The annual Best Hospitals rankings recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.

Only 61 hospitals in the country ranked nationally in four or more specialties of the 12 data-driven specialties included in the list, and Ochsner is the only hospital ranked in the top 50 in four or more specialties within Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. This is the 17th time since 1996 Ochsner has been recognized among the Best Hospitals in America.

For the 2017 - 2018 rankings, Ochsner is one of only 152 hospitals, out of 5,000, ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized these hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care.

In addition, Ochsner Medical Center (in conjunction with Ochsner Medical Center – West Bank Campus and Ochsner Baptist) was ranked No. 1 in Louisiana and No. 1 in the New Orleans metro area as well as being recognized among the Best Hospitals in Southeastern Louisiana.

The U.S. News methodologies include risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, quality of nursing care and other care-related indicators.

Earlier this summer, Ochsner Hospital for Children was ranked among the top 50 children’s hospitals in the country for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery specialties in the 2017 - 2018 U.S. News and World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. Ochsner Hospital for Children is the only hospital in Louisiana and Mississippi to be recognized and offers one of the largest pediatric cardiology programs in the Gulf South.
