Beuerman Selected As Dean Of Louisiana Consular Corps
Greg J. Beuerman
NEW ORLEANS – Greg J. Beuerman, longtime Honorary Consul of Iceland, has been selected Dean of the Louisiana Consular Corps, succeeding French Consul General Gregor Trumel, who has been reassigned to a similar posting in Algeria. Beuerman will serve in his post through 2018.
Beuerman, Icelandic Consul with State Department sanctioned responsibilities along the Gulf Coast since 1994, has previously served the organization as vice dean and twice as secretary. He is also an active member of the New Orleans Citizens Diplomacy Council and the World Trade Center of New Orleans.
Career and honorary consuls have had a presence in Louisiana since the 1800s, assisting in the fields of economic development and trade and cultural and educational exchange, as well providing vital services for foreign nationals in-need. Traditional services have also included assistance with visas and passports and immigration-related issues.
Today, the Louisiana Corps continues to be one of the largest in the country, boasting 56-members who represent countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. New consuls for Sweden and Bulgaria have recently been named.
