PLEASE Foundation Announces Joseph McCloskey Schmidt Scholarship Winner

NEW ORLEANS – The Schmidt Family and the PLEASE Foundation announced that Cameron Washington has been chosen to be the 2015 Joseph McCloskey Scholarship recipient.
Washington is a 9th grade Honor Student at Brother Martin High School and a brain cancer survivor. Washington volunteers at Children's Hospital working with young incoming cancer patients, letting them know what to expect in their treatments. He was named a Cox Hero two years in a row. He recently started a non-profit organization called, "Live To See Cancer Cured." He has also attended Sunshine Camp, which is for teenagers who have cancer that go above and beyond to help others in their communities.
PLEASE Foundation members said Washington is an inspiration and they are proud to have him as the first recipient of their annual Joseph McCloskey Schmidt Scholarship!
The Joseph McCloskey Schmidt Scholarship is a 4-year scholarship awarded to exceptional inner-city students.
Set up to honor the memory of Joseph McCloskey Schmidt, PLEASE Foundation members say Joseph's tender heart, gentle spirit and magnanimous personality will be remembered through all of Washington's future accomplishments.
